Correct as at 1 February 2001. AAPHAN reserves the right to change these criteria if it considers it in the interests of the profession.


Registered Hypnotherapist. ------ Annual fee AUD $85.00

1. No criminal record

2. No current psychiatric disorder

3. Last Psychiatric disorder resolved

4. Formal training in Clinical Hypnosis, to a minimum of 200 hours, or evidence

of competence and proficiency in Clinical Hypnosis.

5. Committment to an ongoing program of self development and training in

Clinical Hypnosis.

6. Committment to AAPHAN's rules and Code of Ethics

7. Demonstration of professional competency to the satisfaction of the

AAPHAN's Board of Registration.

8. Personal interview

Full documentation is required to support these requirements.


Registered NLP Practitioner ------ Annual fee AUD $85.00

1. No criminal record

2. No current psychiatric disorder

3. Last Psychiatric disorder resolved

4. Formal training in NLP to IANLP Practitioner standard, to a minimum of 200

hours, or other acceeptable evidence of competence and proficiency in NLP.

5. Committment to an ongoing program of self development and training in

NLP.

6. Committment to AAPHAN's rules and Code of Ethics

7. Demonstration of professional competency to the satisfaction of the

AAPHAN Board of Registration.

8. Personal interview

Associate Member ------ Annual fee AU$45.00

1. No formal qualifications

2. No criminal record

3. No current psychiatric disorder

4. Last Psychiatric disorder resolved

5. Committment to AAPHAN's rules and Code of Ethics


The AAPHAN Board of Registration is responsible for evaluating each application for membership. It is prepared to discuss points of contention, but The Board's decision on all matters of membership is final.
